The Cookhouse
As you may well have read, we like to have regular social events throughout the year at Heritage. On some of these events our wonderful culinary volunteers make, on site and from scratch, a delectable range of culinary delights for our members to consume and enjoy.
In order to feed the members, who faithfully attend our social events, we used to have a catering kitchen based in a marquee, outdoors. Whilst this was a useful facility, it really wasn’t up to the standard that we desired. The equipment inside wasn’t up to much and it was a real pain to keep clean.
With ever growing number of attendees to our popular social events, we decided in 2015 to invest in a fabulous new facility, now fondly known as The Cookhouse. We really went to town and purchased a sturdy wooden building, which was professionally built, with a roof that came with a thirty year guarantee.
Inside, we have installed professional grade equipment, industry standard stainless steel splash backs and all the mod cons that a professional kitchen should have. Not content to stop there, we asked the local Council to come and give us a food hygiene rating; and we are proud to say that from 2015 and for every inspection since then, we attained and have retained a 5 star food hygiene rating.
As a result of such a fabulous facility, our qualified catering team of volunteers has grown. The number of ‘catered for’ events has grown and the quality of food provided just gets better and better. If you haven’t experienced one of our social events, or indeed the food, please come along and experience it for yourself. We’re sure you’ll enjoy it.
If you are already a Heritage member and would like to become qualified to operate The Cookhouse and to show off your culinary skills, please do speak to the catering team, who will welcome you into the fold.
Here is a fun video from one of our social events, showing the cookhouse’s point of view on a pizza buffet night.
Below are two short videos. The first being the construction of The Cookhouse. The second, a short walkthrough of the completed structure before we fitted it out. If you look closely at the second video, you will see the old marquee (mentioned above) hiding behind it.
