Meri Heri Week – FULL SCHEDULE

Sunday 30th June 2024

1) 10.00 Welcome with tea, coffee and biscuits Clubhouse
Please come along to meet your hosts and know who to contact for any
queries you may have and other vital information for your enjoyment
throughout the week.

2) 11.00 Club members ladies boules competition Boules Court
These events are for members only as they are held annually and the club trophy for boules is engraved
with the winner’s name. Participants are very friendly and of variable standard so please don’t be shy about
giving them a go. £1 entry fee on the day to the club sports officer. Members please register your interest.

14.30 Ice Creams for Sale

3) 15.00 Threadbares Conservatory
Learn to knit and sew. Spare wool and equipment are available free of charge or bring along a project you
have on the go and join us for a chat. If you would like to start a ‘sewing project kit’ (tapestry or long stitch)
order your kit, at cost from £5- £20, in advance directly with Jules,

4) 15.00 Cocktail making class £10 Cookhouse Lawn
A chance to be shown how and have a go yourselves to mix, present and drink three different cocktails.

5) 16.00 Karaoke workshop Clubhouse
This session is for those who wish to try out Karaoke, singing along to their favourite music
with lyrics, without the pressure of performing for an audience.

6) 18.30 Bring your own BBQ Cookhouse lawn
The Club BBQ will be ready to start cooking your food at 6.30pm. Beer and wine are available to purchase.

7) 19.30 Informal social evening Clubhouse/Conservatory
The Karaoke equipment will still be available for a while, chat, play board games/cards.

Monday 1st July 2024

8) 10.00 Meet at Clubhouse
Simon’s Wood and Ambarrow Wood Walk: (Clothed Walk) This 4.6km circular walk with some hill climb
takes us through wooded areas, along country paths and an area where bluebells flower in late April. There
are some roads to cross.

9) 10.00 Self portraiture in charcoal and chalk
Conservatory (possibly outdoors)
Maureen will explain how to begin a portrait and placement of features as you draw along in charcoal, the
importance of tonal variation to build form and the use of line to create texture. Please bring along a small
mirror to use in this session – all other equipment will be provided.

10) 11.00 Callenetics Main field by volleyball court or Clubhouse if
wet. Led by Aneta. Please bring along a towel or mat for this 45-minute session. Max. 20 participants for gentle
stretching exercise. For those who have difficulty with getting up and down exercise balls are made
available.

11) 12.00 Online Breathing Class led by Seb Children’s hut
Bring enthusiasm and curiosity with you to try something new. This 20-minute online session will help you
shed your tension and relax.

12) 12.30 Bring your own Picnic Main field.
Please avoid bringing glass items to the field just in case of breakages. Beer and wine will be on sale should
you need more refreshment.

13) 15.00 Softball rounders Main field

14) 15.00 First aid / defibrillator training Clubhouse
Mike B. will provide training for dealing with life’s physical emergencies and unravel the mystery of using
the defibrillator.

15) 19.30 Line dancing Clubhouse
Jules will lead a session for line dancing. You are encouraged to wear a cowboy hat and/or boots to enter
the spirit of this country style dancing.

Tuesday 2nd July 2024

16) 10.00 Glass painting Conservatory
Led by Maureen. A glass decoration method will be shown for you to decorate a glass jar with a stained
glass effect. You could draw your own design or use available templates. Equipment is provided.

17) 10.00 Walk Meet at Clubhouse
A local walk led by Sonia. More details to come.

18) 12.00 Online Breathing Class led by Seb Children’s hut.
Bring enthusiasm and curiosity with you to try something new. This 20-minute online session will help you
shed your tension and relax.

19) 13.30 Beginners’ Italian Part 1 Children’s hut
Rob. will lead both part 1 today and part 2 on Thursday to impart the knowledge for speaking beginners
Italian. Max. 12 participants.

20) 15.00 Mad Hatter’s Tea Party– Lawn outside cookhouse £7
A substantial tea with sandwiches, scones and cakes washed down with a lovely cup of tea. Decorate and
wear a hat for the ‘Mad Hatter’ theme and the best dressed hat will win the bearer a prize!

21) 17.00 Talk by Keith. Flying a light aircraft Clubhouse
Keith will explain how it works, what you need to do, and the ‘interesting” bits from flying out of
Blackbushe Airport for 15 years.

22) 19.30 Race night Clubhouse
Join the fun of horse racing and having a flutter on the runners with cash prizes to be won.

Wednesday 3rd July 2024

23) 10.00 Crochet and Patchwork Conservatory
Kay will introduce you to the basics of this process of creating textiles by using a crochet hook to interlock
loops of yarn. Bring something with a hole such as a key to create identity tags. Jules will introduce you to
the art of patchwork by helping you to create a small item of your own.

24) 10.30 Aqua Aerobics Pool
Exercise in the pool under Sue C’s instruction. Max. 12 participants. No clothes to be worn in the pool.

25) 11.15 Callenetics Main field by volleyball court, Clubhouse if wet
Please bring along a towel or mat for this 45-minute session led by Aneta. Max. 20 participants for gentle
stretching exercise. For those who have difficulty with getting up and down exercise balls are made
available.

26) 13.30 Talk by Eamonn. Clubhouse
A review of the history of buses over the last 50 years from a personal viewpoint.

14.30 Ice Creams for Sale

27) 15.00 Sport and Game Triathlon challenge meet in Clubhouse
You are invited to select and sign up for 3 different activities from the list of sports and games. Then play
each selected activity 3 times, 9 games in total. The winner of each heat gains 5 points. The sports and
games are:- Shuffleboard, Cornhole, Miniten, Boules, Table Football, Pool. Play your challenges at times to
suit yourselves between now and Friday evening reporting the results to Maureen to collate.

28) 15.00 ‘Sauna’ through to the late evening Pool/Spa
Suite/Clubhouse
Refresh your mind, body and soul by relaxing with friends old and new.

29) 18.30 Top Table – Bring food to share Clubhouse / Conservatory
Eat, drink and be merry.

Thursday 4th July 2024

Triathlon Sports and Games to be played at a time to suit you and your
opponent. Report who has won the challenge to Maureen to award
your points and collate.

Fun, gentle team games. Don’t be shy, just have a go!

36) 18.00 Fish £8 / Pie £7 and chips supper Conservatory or Picnic
tables.
These will be ordered from the ‘Chippy’ and brought back to Heritage.

37) 19.30 Music / Talent Show Clubhouse
Entertainment extravaganza where Heritage members entertain each other.

Friday 5th July 2024

39) 10.00 Still Life Drawing in Oil Pastels Conservatory
Maureen and Jean will introduce Still Life Drawing via a practical session. Equipment and still life
arrangements will be provided.

40) 11.15 Callenetics Main field by volleyball court if dry, Clubhouse if wet.

42) 13.30 Talk by Dave. ‘Butterflies of England – a Short Introduction’ Clubhouse
We will consider the variety of butterflies seen locally to Heritage, often in gardens. Then we look at the five
senses – how butterflies see, hear, smell, taste and feel. Finally, the life cycle of butterflies is shown,
with examples of the four stages: egg, caterpillar (larva), chrysalis (pupa) and adult butterfly.

Daft team games in and around the pool. You might get wet!

44) 18.30 ‘He who pays the Piper’ £10 Cookhouse Lawn, Conservatory and Clubhouse
A Murder Mystery with a 3-course meal comprised of Melon boat starter, Baked Chicken, Baked Potato with
salad main course, Cranachan dessert, Coffee and Mints. When booking please mention allergies or if you
require a vegan or vegetarian alternative.

NOTES:

We hope you have a very enjoyable time during the week.
You are most welcome to join us for the whole week or for just some of the activities. Most are free but some include a charge, and these prices
are shown in red. It is important that your activity preferences are communicated in advance to help us with ordering and buying food, drinks
and materials.

Therefore, please have a look through the timetable and make a note on a piece of paper of the activities that you would like to take part in, (just
the blue index will be fine). Add your name and put this in an envelope marked “Meri Heri” along with the total cash for any pay activities selected
and place this in the letter box by the office at the club. Cash is preferred, but if you will not be at the club before Sunday 23rd June and wish to
send your selection in by post, then cheques should be made payable to “Heritage Club”. Please let us have your selections and cash by 23rd
June at the latest.

Sign-up sheets will be on the board during the week for any last-minute alterations, subject to availability.
